ARQ journal
ARQ is a bilingual quarterly publication with a strong reputation based on reflection, research and critical dissemination of contemporary architectural production. Continuously published since 1980, it’s one of the most prestigious architecture publications in Latin America.
The journal’s main objective is to foster culture and the advancement of knowledge of architecture, landscape and the contemporary city. We strive to promote up-and-coming along with established voices in research, writing, and design by providing an international platform for ideas and debate. We value what it means to ‘print’ architecture today; and put a lot of thought into the editing and publishing process.
The journal’s intended readership is made up of architects, students, researchers, academics, professionals and the general public whose interests are connected with the built environment.
ISBN/ISSN: 0716-0852
Issues of ARQ [from 2001 onwards] are available for free in SciELO, an online Scientific Library, and a selection of issues of the journal can also be viewed in web page format at archives.cl.
Contents and scope
The issues of the ARQ journal are thematic. We publish academic articles, interviews, reviews, essays, built work or projects that relate to the theme of each open call. You can find the current call for papers and projects, as well as the rules for submissions and copyright in the ‘Open Calls’ section on the top menu.
ARQ is an indexed journal, therefore the selection of content is carried out through an open call for submissions. After a first selection process carried out by the editors of the journal, approved articles, reviews, and essays (those that relate to the topic and comply with submission guidelines), are sent to two blind peer reviewers for evaluation. In the case of projects, these are confirmed by the editorial board. You can find more details about the evaluation process, timing, and who our referees are in the ‘Open Calls’ section of our website.
