Una frontera permanente [A Permanent Frontier] tells the story of the process of incorporation of Aysén into the Chilean national territory and imaginary. The book analyzes the way in which this region, which for decades was intended to be transformed, connected and productively activated for the development and modernization of Chile, became what it is today: the metonymy of an image of a remote country, whose remoteness is valued as such and whose virgin nature is appreciated as an object to be safeguarded.
