At Ediciones ARQ, we are dedicated to fostering critical conversations in architecture, landscape architecture, and urban design. Our commitment extends to championing authors whose work redefines and enriches the academic and professional fields in Latin America — and beyond.
Interested in publishing with us?
As an academic publisher, Ediciones ARQ seeks to expand and disseminate knowledge in architectural disciplines. We publish books that offer original perspectives on architecture, landscape architecture, urban design, and related fields. Our mission is to build bridges between the history, theory, and practice of design —in Chile and Latin America— with global contemporary issues, highlighting the role of design in creating more equitable and sustainable environments.
We welcome proposals from architects, researchers, academics, and interdisciplinary teams, both from the UC School of Architecture and external collaborators. Each proposal undergoes an internal review process followed by blind peer-review, ensuring it meets rigorous academic standards and offers fresh perspectives. In certain cases, depending on the nature and motivations of the publication, Ediciones ARQ may forego the blind peer-review process.
We work closely with our authors, supporting them at every stage of the publishing process. From manuscript editing to translation, graphic design, and image editing, our specialized team ensures each book is a tailored project, carefully developed to meet the highest quality standards.
In addition to printed books, we offer digital distribution alternatives (via ARQ+) and hybrid models—titles simultaneously published in print and Open Access. We publish Open Access (OA) titles via the OA golden and OA green pathways. For OA golden, the electronic version of a publication is released simultaneously with the printed version. For OA green, Ediciones ARQ makes the electronic version freely available after an embargo period of up to two years. Both pathways offer indexing in academic databases to maximize reach and visibility. We provide the option to publish in both Spanish and English, extending the accessibility and impact of our editions to a global audience.
Note:
Ediciones ARQ does not publish theses submitted for undergraduate, licentiate, diploma, or master’s programs. To be considered, your manuscript may be based on a thesis developed in one of these programs but must adhere to the structure, content expectations, and thematic depth of a book.

Costs
The costs of editing a book vary depending on the project and its specific requirements. These include expenses associated with printing, graphic design, image editing, and translation. Based on the evaluation of each project, Ediciones ARQ and the UC School of Architecture may contribute a portion of the production costs. Authors are expected to contribute the remaining costs. Ediciones ARQ supports authors in applying for public and private funding to finance the publication of their books.
