ARQ Docs Jorge Otero-Pailos examines the work of artist-architect and preservationist Jorge Otero-Pailos. Drawing on his architectural training, he creates art that explores memory, history, and transition, inviting viewers to see monuments as cultural agents. Otero-Pailos uses the material residues of modernity—atmospheric dust, waterways, sweat traces, sonic imprints, maps, and security grilles—to reveal hidden meanings. His ongoing series, The Ethics of Dust, spans more than a decade and includes cleanings at Venice’s Doge’s Palace; Westminster Hall, London; the U.S. Mint, San Francisco; and Trajan’s Column at the Victoria & Albert Museum, London.
